"We made an 8:15 reservation on a Friday evening, but it was pretty evident that the restaurant was not interested in having new customers at that hour (we sat outside because we brought our dogs). The food was fine the burrata was very good, but both of our entrees (spaghetti pomodoro and the squid ink tagliatelle) were under seasoned. Dessert was quite good (doughnuts). We sat for awhile after 10:00 to finish our bottle of wine (having paid), but the staff turned the lights out on us and left us in the dark with no warning, which is NEVER done (I worked in fine dining for six years). Two plus hours for a three course meal with a bottle of wine and one other drink is not an unreasonable time frame if you don't want people lingering you should either adjust your hours or stop seating earlier (although shutting up shop at 9:00 on a Friday night is...a choice). It wasn't our first visit to Elo's, but it will probably be our last. Easy to see why there were only a few tables eating on a pleasant Friday evening at what should be a better restaurant than it is. I would add that the patio has a nice enough ambience but the interior of the restaurant is way too brightly lit for the average diner to feel most comfortable."

Restaurant Week. Delicious. Although the only menu available was what was being offered for Restaurant Week, it was a robust and varied selection. Servers were super friendly and the portions were substantial. We will definitely return!

we drove unexpectedly on the Trivia night, so it was a bit loud for our joy as not participant but manageable. the place is very nice, friendly staff. unfortunately my flatbread was cold but delicious. the salat was fresh and very good. recommend! great happy hour prices and until 19 o'clock! would go again. we drove to the restaurant, just to find that it was closed on the date of our reservation. that was our jubilee. there was even a confirmation text on the day before my phone to make sure we were still there. we had to find a place where a very special evening should be. when they are closed, make sure they block the days on their reservation system.

Food was good and we enjoyed it however we opted to eat outside and they were short staffed so you had to order through their QC code. We found this annoying but ok, we put in our order. It didn't go through and the waiter realized it so he came and took our order so that was good that they recognized the lack of order for our table. Overall I think we'll go back or at least order out. They definitely need more staff though.

"This place really helped me adjust. I later learned that people gravitate towards certain bars, and I found my favorites, especially those with live music like Birchmere, Black Cat, 9:30 Club, Lincoln, Capital One Arena, and even the now-closed O'Shaughnessy's and Rock & Roll Hotel. One of my most memorable experiences was running into Rory Sheridan on one of my first visits. He was launching his DC music campaign back then and was part of Loud Boyz. We chatted a few times, and I even caught up with some old classmates. Another highlight was when I heard about a “reunion” night before Thanksgiving, and I decided to crash it. There were moments where people could be unkind or I felt out of place, but I was given some guidance on where I would fit in better, without the unnecessary drama. Being in Old Town, I was familiar with nearby schools like West Potomac, Mount Vernon, and Bishop Ireton. During my visits, I would often take an Alexandria cab or use Metro Access, being discreet about my disability since I felt embarrassed at times. Being a regular meant navigating the tourist scene, and there were people who seemed territorial about the place, but I ended up doing quite well when I sold my house. Good times continued with events like watching RG3 play for the Redskins or meetups organized by JT. I enjoyed New Year’s celebrations and weekend outings. I also frequented other establishments like Flying Fish before it closed, and O'Shaughnessy's before I decided to stop drinking. This is a sports bar located near a bicycle shop, close to the Ben & Jerry's I used to work at, along with many other walkable bars for bar hopping, like Union Street Pub and Fish Market. It can be a great place to have fun, but with the good comes some downsides. Overall, I felt well-hosted and respected here, despite some things I was not initially aware of or didn’t want to uncover."
