We were in DC on vacation and looking for a last minute place to take the family other than quick serve places. Grist Mill was within walking distance, got right in, food and service was great.

Our waitress was fantastic and incredibly friendly. I ordered the Caesar salad with salmon, and it was delicious. It was a bit pricey, but better than other choices in the area. The burgers were also flavorful and quite enjoyable.

What an exceptional little gem of a restaurant located within the Hilton Garden Inn! The food is not only incredibly delicious but also very reasonably priced. I had the shrimp and grits along with the scallop appetizer special, and it's clear that this chef knows how to cook. Bravo! View menu

I have to remember to start with dessert because the bread pudding was delicious. For dinner, I devoured the lobster mac-n-cheese and paired it with the broiled crab cake. Both were generous portions and prepared with tasty toppings. At my table the lobster tail topped with scallops was a hit.

The restaurant would not honor our reservation. It was the eve of the women's march and they were packed. We hurried across town to have dinner, pleased we had made a reservation. Only to be turned away at the door. Poor planning. To make it worse, I couldn't book another restaurant via OT because grist hadn't removed us from system so showed I had res at same time. Infuriating.
