"After receiving a gift card from a friend, we decided to give the Grove one last chance. The parking lot was full, so I asked the hostess for directions on where to park. She directed us to a spot across the street, but we couldn't find any parking other than in residential areas. After driving back to inform the hostess that we were having trouble, she tried to help, but we still couldn't find the parking area and ended up parking in someone's yard. To make matters worse, we had to walk across the street in the rain. When we arrived, we were told we couldn't be seated early due to a private event, even though the main restaurant was quite quiet. Then, when I tried to order my first drink, I was informed it was unavailable because they were switching suppliers. My husband also inquired about an item we had seen on the online menu, but we learned that those menus were different and the item wasn’t available. Additionally, we felt rushed to order our main entrees because the kitchen was backed up due to the private event, despite the restaurant not being very busy, with many empty tables. If the restaurant can't accommodate regular guests, perhaps it should consider closing to the public during such events. Sadly, our food was just average. It’s very disappointing to say that the Grove is no longer a place we’d choose to visit again."

Thursday Night dinner: Food was outstanding but it was our server Casey that made the experience great. Friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. She seemed to really enjoy her job and it showed. Although the restaurant was very busy, she was always a step ahead in taking care of us. Grove is lucky to have her. Sunday Brunch: Shrimp Grits was excellent as was Biscuits and Gravy.Casey was our server and exceeded expectations once again. She was one step ahead keeping out coffee filled and checking on us. The waiter mixed up the veggies in our plates. He quickly blamed the kitchen. He even did not offer exchanging for correct veggies. In addition, 4 separate servers mistakenly brought plates for other diners. Also they tried to take our plates before we finished. They were all untrained and have no sense of hospitality. The food was ok. Asparagus Tempura was salty. The dipping sauce was mainly mayo. My swordfish and sauce were cold. The building is nice and the patio is beautiful. The menu is pricey. You would expect high quality of services and food. They failed.

This lovely restaurant is tucked away behind the Briar Barn Inn in Rowley. We ordered the fried oysters which came in the shell over a spectacular chopped green apple relish; the equally delicious burrata served with rustic toast; clam pasta (very generous portion with clams in the shell and homemade pasta); and steak frites which was perfectly cooked and served with carmelized shallots and gorgeous side salad with an assortment of delicate lettuces. Service was welcoming and friendly without being overbearing. Price point is decent for the quality and atmosphere. The only shortcoming was the bourbon smash cocktail which was tasty but weak. We will definitely be back.
