"I have mixed feelings about this score John 's roast beef sub (and especially the gravy) is one of the best sandwiches I 've had anywhere. And the fish and deli meats are wonderful as well. But....I 'm eating a Godfather sub right now that 's got all the meat...but nothing more. None of the tomato salad mentioned in the Grubhub description nor the ability to leave a note asking them to make sure to include tomato or anything else. And this isn 't the first time it 's happened the fish sandwich I ordered a few months ago didn 't include the lettuce and tomato shown in the photo and, again, no way to request them (or tartar sauce for that matter). Which is disappointing, because the sandwich I thought I was ordering the sandwich I wanted to receive is not the sandwich I am eating. And, needless to say, no way to ask for mustard, olive oil, mayo, or any other condiment. If I had one wish, it would be that the sandwich I receive be the one pictured or described. If I had a second wish, it would be that there be the opportunity to select toppings and condiments the way I can with so many other restaurants. I 'll keep ordering from John 's...but until then, I guess I 'm sticking with the roast beef sub that one never disappoints."

This restaurant is highly overrated. I can prepare better Italian dishes at home for a fraction of the cost. Save your money!

Drive put my food in the floor, there is plenty of bench space on the deck. Sauce was spilled everywhere and ham sandwich was smashed.

I ordered the godfather sandwich here, and although I forgot to take a picture, it was really good! It was quite a substantial sandwich. View menu

Everything homemade, excellent quality, old school Italian, exactly what your looking for. Cold heroes, hot heroes , home cooking. One of the few left. The owner Rob takes great pride in his culture and it shows. Enjoy

I ordered the Godfather sandwich, which was supposed to come with either tomatoes or roasted peppers, but it had neither. There was also no option for me to choose the toppings I wanted. It was disappointing to receive a sandwich that didn't match the description on the menu. View menu

The best roast beef I've ever had! They were previously located on Stilwell but relocated to Dyker Heights, leaving the original name at the old site, which has since been taken over by new owners who have really messed things up. I'm so glad we discovered their new location—it's just as great as before!

The prices displayed on the wall and the paper menu were outdated, resulting in me paying more for a sandwich that was already overpriced. If you're not going to update the prices, at least put up a clear sign indicating that the prices may not be accurate. The Monday special—a pastrami and Swiss sandwich on a pretzel roll with mustard—was overwhelmed by the salt crystals on the roll. The pastrami itself is dry and salty, and it gets lost among the roll and the mustard. Additionally, the receipt was unclear; my sandwich was not specifically listed, just labeled as a "custom amount."

"When we called to reserve a table, no one informed us that there was a dining time limit of 1.5 hours. My friend wanted to invite more people to join us for dinner, but I was unsure if everyone would agree to the minimum charge of $60, including taxes and tips. I confirmed a reservation for 7 people during my second call, but ultimately, only 6 of us showed up. The table we were given was quite small, making it uncomfortable for six people, especially with the mandatory minimum spending of $60, as well as a 20% tip. For just two people, the minimum tip is 18%. I was confused about the dining time limit—was it two hours or 1.5? The party area was limited to just the backyard for additional seating. I was with friends who didn’t know the group well, and we arrived early at 3 PM, but we couldn’t wait until 6:30 PM. That’s why we ended up sitting at a separate table for two. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn’t seem to care and couldn’t arrange for us to be seated closer together. We had no choice in the matter. To make matters worse, the female waiter had a poor attitude. It felt like we were dining in a sidewalk market. She questioned another girl who served me ponzu sauce, apparently because I looked impatient when I saw her face. Her attitude only worsened after that. It seems like they need to train their employees better, as they seem unaware of how to provide good service. As for the food, it was just okay, typical of basic Japanese cuisine. There were too many restrictions! Customers are forced to adhere to the restaurant’s rules and limitations. I cannot recommend this place unless someone is specifically looking for a fast-food experience. In short, I don’t think I’ll be returning next time."
