"I celebrated my nephew's birthday during my first visit to La Villa and had a wonderful time. We went on a Monday night and didn't need a reservation, as my brother mentioned he had never needed one before. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable, describing the menu items, especially the desserts, in a tempting and accurate way. I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan and was happy that she suggested pasta as a base instead of the usual Swiss chard. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked, with a delicious cheesy topping. The portion was generous, allowing me to share a sample with my nephew and take some home for lunch the next day. We also shared a Caesar house salad, though I wished the plates were larger than the bread plates on the table. My brother's family, who live nearby and have visited La Villa many times, enjoyed their favorites like Tuscan chicken, spaghetti and meatballs, and burger and fries. The desserts we shared were all fantastic - Tiramisu, Triple Chocolate Mousse, and Peanut Butter Explosion. My favorite was the Tiramisu, with its delightful coffee-soaked sponge cake. My only critique would be that the lighting was a bit dim, and the entrees could have been more attractively plated. Overall, I will definitely be returning to La Villa."

The restaurant has excellent mussels, pasta bolognese, pizza, roasted carrots with parsnip, and the gelato is truly outstanding!

I entered the restaurant and immediately noticed that none of the kitchen staff were wearing masks. As a result, I chose not to dine there. View menu

The chef did not have a mask on and the waitress took hers off while talking to us. When we requested for her to put it back on, she became upset.

I enjoyed a fantastic variety of traditional Italian dishes at this restaurant. The crab cake was a fantastic beginning to the meal, and the chicken florentine in a white wine sauce was exceptional. The portion sizes were very generous, and the service was satisfactory. Overall, I had a pleasant dining experience. View menu

I was disappointed with the lack of safety and awareness at La Villa. None of the chefs or bartenders were wearing masks when I picked up my takeout order. The only person wearing a mask besides myself was the host, who was very kind. I felt uneasy and insecure while getting my food. It is irresponsible for a business not to have their employees wear masks, and it also goes against Vermont's mask mandate. I will not be returning to La Villa in the future.

I went there back in November and their salad and pizza was great. I got takeout from there a couple of weeks ago and it was pretty terrible. I ordered the truffle fries and crab cakes. The truffle fries were so soggy it was hard to eat them and i never say no to fries) When I tried the crab cakes I actually thought i had received the wrong meal because I didn't taste any crab, it was mostly some type of breadcrumb and a curry taste. I've had a lot of crab cakes in my life and I'm sorry to say these were the worst.

"However, I would rate it more like three stars at most for a few reasons: this is not really a hotel, so don’t expect the same value you would find at a typical hotel. The staff is friendly, but they lack professionalism. You will definitely pay a premium here. If you're mainly drawn by the views and the environment, then this is perfect for you. The rooms maintain much of their original decor, and they serve tea every afternoon, though it lacks the traditional tea sandwiches. Remember, this is not Windsor Castle—it's an old mansion in the USA. While sharing bathrooms at $400 a night can be acceptable, not having your room cleaned, dealing with unkempt shared bathrooms, and experiencing outdated plumbing is not. It's evident that the money is being funneled into maintaining the farm and the potentially expensive upkeep of the mansion. They do provide some local cheese as a welcome gift, along with a poem and candy for the night, which is a nice touch but does not make up for the other issues. That said, the beauty of the place makes it worth staying for a night or two if you're willing to compromise and know what to expect. If your budget allows, I recommend splurging for a room with an en-suite bathroom, even if it costs $600 a night—treat yourself to a weekend in this amazing location, but don’t expect hotel-like amenities for that price. And by the way, bring your own drinks because the bar closes at 9 PM! Mostly an older crowd here, so don’t come expecting nightlife."
