"We are pizza connoisseurs and this Ankeny staple has been on my radar for a while. We took the opportunity to dine here early on a Saturday night and to check out Christmas lights after. We are glad we got here early as it has a small dining space. The server that seemed to be managing the majority of the tables was full of energy and customer service. We each tried our own pizzas and neither of us had an easy time narrowing down what we wanted as so many flavor combinations looked so good. We liked the different options, some which included celery. It may sound weird, but the crunch of the celery was a nice compliment. Bring a warm sweater or keep your coat on while dining during the chilly months. It's a popular place for dine in and carry out and when that door is opened, it gets chilly quite quickly."

A team of soccer players and their parents in town crashed this pizza place on a Saturday afternoon. Great service and terrific pizza!!! Would definitely come back!

Dinner rush on a Friday. Old school setting, pizzaria for sure! Cheese bread was perfect for 2 of us, small pizza was enough for both as well. They sling out pies like I've never seen! Celery on pizza? Who knew?

Leaning Tower is a staple in Ankeny. If you're new to the area or just passing through, I highly recommend trying their pizza. I ordered the Pickle Wrap pizza and the Harrington pizza, along with a basket of fries. The fries arrived at our table within 10 minutes, and the pizzas followed about 10-15 minutes later. If you're a fan of pickles, you definitely shouldn't miss the Pickle Wrap pizza. Overall, the service was excellent, the food was fantastic, and our waitress was incredibly friendly.

This restaurant used to be the best pizza place in the area for decades, but things have changed in recent years. The toppings are now sparse, and the food is often burnt, dry, and sometimes even inedible. We used to eat there weekly for many years, but now we rarely go. The high standards set by the previous owners have disappeared. They maintained their success for so long because of their commitment to quality, but I don't see this place lasting much longer, as it has disappointed its most loyal customers. View menu

My friend and I stopped here after biking the High Trestle Trail from Woodward to Ankeny, and I'm really glad we decided to check this place out. The pizza was absolutely amazing, featuring a delicious thin crust loaded with toppings. We shared a specialty pizza that had one half labeled 'The Works' and the other half 'Chicken Bacon.' The indoor dining area was comfortable, and the service was excellent. I would definitely return to this spot. Plus, there's a bike rack in the back of the restaurant for locking up your bike.

Here’s what I mean: I ordered two of their large pizzas, thinking that would be more than enough for six people, three of whom don’t eat much. However, it turned out to be far from sufficient. Their definition of a "large" pizza is what I would consider a very small medium at any other pizza place. They were just surprisingly small. On the positive side, the quality of the pizza was excellent. The crust was nice, and the sauce was zesty and fresh. I’m not sure what I expected for $45, but I definitely didn’t expect to still be hungry after finishing it.

This was our first time having Leaning tower pizza and I cannot believe I have missed out on this little gem. Deliciousness on so many level. Perfectly crispy dough and sauce loaded with flavor, and the freshest ingredients. Bread bites with a hint of garlic are light and airy and dipped in the house dressing with a base of ranch mixed will an explosion of flavors. Ordered a side salad with the house dressing served on the side included was pepperoni, homemade I'm assuming croutons that were absolutely delicious. Fresh tomatoes with my all time favorite salad topper Pepperchini recommend View menu

I really wish I could respond to some of the more foolish reviews I've seen. For instance, one complaint was about the hot sauce packets being difficult to open. Seriously? And then someone said the pizza was too greasy. Well, if you ordered a classic cheese and pepperoni, what exactly did you expect? I ordered two pizzas for six people, and it still wasn't enough! I'm honestly at a loss for words. People need to wake up and look around at other pizza options to understand what's out there. I'm planning to visit soon and can't wait to try it out—hopefully the doors are wide enough for me, or I might just have to complain!

We already knew what we wanted, so as soon as our waitress arrived, we ordered the 'Leaner' specialty pizza (medium size) along with a half order of onion rings. I have a picture of the pizza to share, but I forgot to capture the rings, which were absolutely fantastic. Trust me, these are the real deal when it comes to onion rings, and you’ll definitely love them. As for the pizza, I always try to pinpoint something unique about a dish that most restaurants serve. After numerous visits to the Leaning Tower, I've come to realize that they have the BEST SAUCE around. Seriously, that’s what distinguishes their thin crust pizza from others. So, I highly recommend checking out the Leaning Tower...

"I came here to alter my stars. This used to be my favorite restaurant in the whole Des Moines area, so this is hard to write. I ordered takeout from here a couple of days ago. We got online, looked at their menu and decided what we wanted. We ordered boneless chicken wings 10 tiny little bites), a side order of fries, a large margarita pizza $29! size-14x16) and a large pepperoni and beef pizza 14x16). It was $72 and some change. What the hard part is, I used the menu on their website, called to order, and the owner took my order. I get there and was told the price which was about $20-25 more than I expected. I respectfully asked why it cost so much, they let me see the receipt then, and I asked about the prices not adding up with their website and she just said, yeah, that 's our pre-covid prices. I asked why they have it that way and she said the owner doesn 't know the password to get in there to remove/change it. That is poor customer service. She did give me a verbal apology. I would have done more than that for how shocked I was. I was going to sit and have a drink while I waited for my food, but I couldn 't see spending more money. Waiting an extra 20 mins more for my food, than what they said it would be ready, was nothing compared to the sticker shock I had. I 'll post the pictures, if Google will let me. NOT worth $72+. I cannot support small businesses! I just can 't. Very sad. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3"
