"My girlfriend and I went there on 3/15/2014. We ordered two coffees and we 're looking at the menu. There was about three small packets of sugar at the table so we asked the waitress could we have some sugar. She brought us a glass sugar dispenser with about 1/4 of an inch of sugar in it. I told her that we needed some more but we never got any. There was enough sugar for one cup. The coffee looked like it came from the bottom of the pot. We were dumbfounded as to why we were being treated so poorly, so we decided to get up and leave. On our way out the owner and waitress ask what the problem was. I told them that we couldn 't get sugar. The waitress said that she had brought us some sugar. I told her that the dispenser was practically empty and no more was brought to us. We didn 't get ugly or rude and just proceeded out the door. To my surprise the owner followed us outside of the restaurant and accused us of being rude to his staff. I stopped and turned around and walk back towards the owner to discuss the matter with him. He was making threatening remarks about me walking up to him. We had a few words and at that point the owner threatened to break my hip. He said I 'll break your hip old man ! At that point my girlfriend told him that he was being recorded. On hearing that he stopped his threats and went back in the restaurant. If I had recorded the incident, I could have easily had him arrested. I simply could not believe what had just happened. I had to leave one star to be able to put in the comment, but that was one star too many. My girlfriend is black and I think that racism was involved in this. I 'm 63 years old and never in my life, have I had this happen to me. Looking back at the incident and the fact that we were brought a container of sugar that was practically empty, and the way the owner came outside cussing at us and telling us that we were rude to his staff, made me come to the conclusion that he is a racist and did not want us in his restaurant. There were no other reason for his obnoxious behavior."

The restaurant retains the same nostalgic vibe of Lucille’s Red Kettle. While the waitress appeared a little scattered, the food was incredibly tasty, especially the 3-meat burrito which was absolutely delicious!

The breakfast at this restaurant is excellent and the owner is very personable and kind. They love children and even give them little toys. The biscuit with sausage gravy is delicious, and the crawfish queso fries are also fantastic! View menu

This was the most excellent place for breakfast!! The service and food were both outstanding! If you like to support local businesses instead of big change restaurants please give this place a try. Every thing is made from scratch and so, so good!!!

How can you go wrong with a breakfast place that has 3 different kinds of bacon and 4 different sausages? I had the cheddar jalapeño sausage, which packed a respectable punch of spiciness. Everyone was nice, the food was all good, and the collection of metal models decorating the place was charming.

Owner Preston Pitka, refusing to give a former employee a copy of his W-2, as well as making verbal threats over the phone in regards to receiving a copy of the W-2. Owner is a very rude man who when contacted about this issue, decided that it would be appropriate to threaten violence. I would not eat there, or give a single dollar to this individual. Not to mention the numerous health and safety concerns brought up by the former employee who was unjustly terminated. View menu

My previous review doesn't appear to be visible, so I'll write it again. The owner of this restaurant has been known to verbally abuse former employees over the phone when asked for their W2 forms. He claimed that the forms were already sent, but during the phone conversation, it was a different story. I was also fired from my job instead of quitting. The owner yelled at me, told me to go home, and then asked if I still wanted my job after disrespecting me. It seems that the owner is more concerned with preserving the reputation of his business than telling the truth.

We are from Ponchatoula, LA and had come to Alexandria for a concert. Saturday morning we woke up wanting a family owned local business for breakfast, I am so glad to have pulled up Mickey’s Red Kettle on google. We decided to try them out and I give them 10/10. Their Chicken and Waffles are the BOMBBBB!!! Oh, and let me not forget the specialty sausages (jalapeño cheddar, Louisiana Crawfish, Louisiana Alligator, Pineapple Jalapeño) and bacon (jalapeño bacon), that will have your mouth watering and craving all the time.I had to take me a couple pounds of sausage to bring home because they are that GREAT!! They are such an amazing family and great business and service. No issues at all. When w...

"This place really helped me adjust. I later learned that people gravitate towards certain bars, and I found my favorites, especially those with live music like Birchmere, Black Cat, 9:30 Club, Lincoln, Capital One Arena, and even the now-closed O'Shaughnessy's and Rock & Roll Hotel. One of my most memorable experiences was running into Rory Sheridan on one of my first visits. He was launching his DC music campaign back then and was part of Loud Boyz. We chatted a few times, and I even caught up with some old classmates. Another highlight was when I heard about a “reunion” night before Thanksgiving, and I decided to crash it. There were moments where people could be unkind or I felt out of place, but I was given some guidance on where I would fit in better, without the unnecessary drama. Being in Old Town, I was familiar with nearby schools like West Potomac, Mount Vernon, and Bishop Ireton. During my visits, I would often take an Alexandria cab or use Metro Access, being discreet about my disability since I felt embarrassed at times. Being a regular meant navigating the tourist scene, and there were people who seemed territorial about the place, but I ended up doing quite well when I sold my house. Good times continued with events like watching RG3 play for the Redskins or meetups organized by JT. I enjoyed New Year’s celebrations and weekend outings. I also frequented other establishments like Flying Fish before it closed, and O'Shaughnessy's before I decided to stop drinking. This is a sports bar located near a bicycle shop, close to the Ben & Jerry's I used to work at, along with many other walkable bars for bar hopping, like Union Street Pub and Fish Market. It can be a great place to have fun, but with the good comes some downsides. Overall, I felt well-hosted and respected here, despite some things I was not initially aware of or didn’t want to uncover."

"My friends and I went to Cheesetique for restaurant week. We sat outside. The space was great, the weather was great. Upon arrival, it took a server about 15 minutes to come to our table, and that was only after a friend went inside to ask for someone to service us. The server who had served our friends, who had arrived 10 minutes prior, was bartending. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time. The drinks came out relatively soon after. The food took a normal amount of time to come out of the kitchen. We got the watermelon, quinoa salad and truffle balls as apps. There was no dressing with the salad, just spinach leaves, watermelon, and quinoa. It was very basic. The truffle balls, although good, were balls of cheese. They gave huge cheese balls but only 3 tiny pieces of bread. We ordered a Mac and cheese for the table which was not salted very well at all. For the main course, we ordered gnocchi, pot pie, and braised beef. The beef and mashed potatoes were the best. The pot poe and gnocchi were not nearly salted enough. All the food came out 'warm ' at best. Dessert was fine. Overall, not at all worth the amount we paid for restaurant week. We were left disappointed. The service was slow. I do understand they might have been short staffed, but even waitresses who were not our servers looked as us, after being there for 15 min and walked past. We asked someone to get us water, which was never brought to us, so overall, disappointed in our dining experience, considering how much we paid."
