"This is the real deal the only top notch sushi in the Palm Springs area. I stumbled in by happenstance on a Wednesday night without a reservation and since I was dining alone I snagged the only individual seat at the bar. It's popular with locals and the way I noticed it was driving by at 5:00 there was a line of older people waiting to get in right when they opened the doors. Good sign. Service was a bit dictatorial probably because it was so busy and they had to keep things moving but the host (maybe wife and owner) was nice even though she was firm. She just had a ton of patrons to manage. I saw 5 10 parties get turned away since no resy for the short time I waited for my spot to clear. Sushi bar it took a while to eat since they were so busy. Chefs had their hands full. Also full menu is not available at the sushi bar. On to the sushi excellent fish. Right up there with best I've had at some of the high end sushi restaurants on either coast all in an unassuming old school atmosphere. Nothing fancy but yellowtail, tuna, aji, ikura, uni, mackerel, sweet shrimp were all wonderful. The uni was very special. I also loved my negihama roll. Oh expect to pay handsomely for what you get. Take out pork tonkatsu was good also especially after crisping it up in a toaster oven. Had a delicious hot mustard along with the sweet sauce. Don't go here if you're looking for a Philly cheese roll. There's another restaurant somewhere else for that kind of sushi. Go here for great nigiri and the old standbys."

Great little place off the 111. Small, cozy inside and everyone is super nice. It feels like a family owned business and they really take good care of their customers. The food was great, a bit on the pricier side but overall really good quality. I enjoyed the sake recommendation as well, I will definitely be coming back to try other menu items.

This place has such great quality sushi. I always order a chirashi bowl. It was $39 and although it had less fish than other chirashi bowls, it was a perfect size for lunch. The fish was the smoothest and not at all fishy. They were cut thin than what I typically see- the thicker slices. Not once did I bite into a veiny/tendinous piece. It was a small intimate place, with Japanese chefs. Glad I made the stop pre-airport!

We unexpectedly stumbled upon this restaurant for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the upscale interior, which initially made us feel a bit out of place with our kids. However, we were impressed by the diverse menu options and found the food to be delicious. The hot green tea was especially enjoyable. The flavor of the udon was unique compared to what we typically eat, but the portion size was generous. The service was attentive, even as the restaurant became busy after we arrived. View menu

So say the owner was rude, disrespectful and totally unpleasant is an understatement. Made a reservation that was not honored but did give us a seat at the bar. Made it very clear we had a very short time to order. We did so and completed our dinner. Other customers were still being served as paid for our fair. She basically said she had done this for over twenty years and was tired of it. We did not feel welcome in the slightest. In the Asian household or restaurant you are welcomed as an honored guest. Certainly not the case here. Sushi was fair. Sushi chefs were quite nice. Have a great day.

Located in Palm Desert, Desert Sushi exceeded my expectations during my recent visit. The low-key dining room was full of diners who clearly appreciated quality sushi, and the menu was just the right balance of variety without being overwhelming. Despite being out of a few popular items, the daily-changing nigiri menu was a testament to the restaurant's authenticity. I especially enjoyed the sake selection, and the Junmai Daiginjo we ordered was top-notch. Some of our favorite dishes included the Seaweed Salad, Tuna Carpaccio, Hotategi Scallop Nigiri, Mackerel Anago, and Ikura salmon roll. Desert Sushi in Palm Desert is an indoor-only dining experience, so reservations are recommended. They...

"**ORDERED ITEM:** Modern Hippie Veggie (with added seitan) **TASTE:** First of all, if you take a quick look at some Yelp photos, you'll see how visually appealing this sandwich is, and mine looked exactly like that. But it’s not just about looks; it tastes amazing and has a wonderful texture as well. The sandwich features crack cheese, avocado, gomasio (a sesame and sea salt blend), tomato, jicama, shredded carrot, cucumber, purple pickled cabbage, fresh lettuce, and mayo on country levain bread. I opted to add seitan for extra protein. There’s a ton of ingredients packed into this sandwich, but everything comes together beautifully, resulting in a truly fantastic meal. The vegetables were all incredibly fresh and crisp, making the sandwich feel refreshing. In terms of flavor, the crack cheese has a tangy note similar to hummus. The sweetness from the carrots, the light pickling of the cabbage, the heartiness of the seitan, and the nuttiness from the gomasio blend harmoniously to create a delicious bite. I could easily eat this sandwich several times a week without any guilt. The levain bread has a nice sourdough vibe, just so you know. It’s also generously sized, making it shareable for two if you’re not too hungry. **SERVICE:** The cashier who took my order was friendly and had a positive attitude, which always makes the food taste better. You simply place your order at the register, and they bring the food to your table. I arrived about 30 minutes after they opened (11 AM) on Saturday of Labor Day weekend, and I was able to walk right in, order, and sit down without waiting. However, it did get busy shortly after, and by the time I finished my meal, there was someone waiting for my table. **LOCATION & PARKING:** This might be as helpful as a..."

"After selecting alternative dishes, the troubles continued when the restaurant failed to remove the duck from our bill, leading to an incorrect charge of $40. When we brought it to their attention, the resolution process was anything but smooth. They informed us that the refund would take 2 to 3 days to process, and, without prior notice, they recharged us the correct amount, which totaled almost $400. It was clear that Cork Tree Restaurant does not focus on providing exceptional dining experiences or catering to special celebrations. Instead, it seems to attract patrons who are willing to spend large sums on a single meal. In contrast, our visit to Cliffside was a delight—outstanding food, impeccable service, and a lovely atmosphere, all at a surprisingly lower price point. The differences between our experiences at Cork Tree and Cliffside underscored the importance of attentive customer service and quality dining. Cork Tree’s attempts to make amends, which included offering a gift card or voiding our bill, felt insufficient once the damage to our honeymoon experience had been done. As retail store managers ourselves, we understand customer service standards and that mistakes can occur. We’re not ones to make unreasonable complaints; we've dealt with our fair share of difficult customers. However, the series of errors at Cork Tree resulted in a significant amount being held on our account during our honeymoon, without any prior notice or a clear resolution. In conclusion, if you're in search of a remarkable dining experience, you might want to consider places like Cliffside, which prioritize exceptional service and high-quality cuisine without the steep prices associated with Cork Tree Restaurant."
