"You have never tasted a really good barbeque until you have been to Hickory Roots BBQ at 705 E Moore Ave in Terrell, Texas. The meat is cooked juicy and tender inside. Maybe the aroma and flavor of the bbq is from the hickory burning wood, but it takes a really good pit master to make it all happen. He made it happen when we were there. No matter where you are travelling, this place is worth that extra stop. Try it and you will not be disappointed."

"Wow! When we walked in, not a single table was clean. One of the four young girls eventually got up to wipe a table, but then she used the same rag to clean the floor and tossed it onto the next table. Throughout our visit, all four of them sat at a front table on their phones, showing no effort to tidy up. It wasn't until a mother and her two young children arrived that anyone bothered to clean a table, and even then, they used that same dirty rag. It was incredibly unprofessional, disgusting, and unsanitary! I will never come back to this restaurant again."

"It was our first time here and it's now my second favorite restaurant!! We came in on a Saturday night but there was only a few other tables seated. Our server was really sweet and attentive. Everything we ate was really tasty! Cooked perfectly, lots of flavor. I had the marinated chicken (so good), my husband had the chicken fried chicken and it was a huge portion and the breading was perfect. My brother had a burger and fries and he said the burger was really good but the fries were amazing. I also tasted the mashed potatoes and the okra. Both were delicious but the okra was maybe my favorite I've had. You could smell the bread pudding once you walk in the door and although no one ordered it, it smelled like heaven. I love the ambience. Very eclectic and the kids loved it, especially the train that kept riding around between the rooms. We'll definitely be back."

"Stopped by this last weekend, I'm always on the hunt for good Italian Food!! The chicken Florentine was excellent, my husband had minestrone soup he said it was outstanding!!! We had an appetizer of calamari it was too crunchy/overdone (that is why I gave a 4 star for food). We took home a Stromboli, it was really good!! Definitely a restaurant that I would stop at again when we are in Terrell TX!! Parking: August 2024 there was road construction in front of the restaurant, which when complete will probably make it easier to enter, so until then be patient getting into their driveway. You won't be disappointed. At this time, I would not pull in with a RV or something that you might be towing. There is a Walmart behind the restaurant, park there for a larger rig and walk across the grass about 100' well worth the effort for the great food!"

"We visited the restaurant tonight to order a three-meat plate and requested ribs. The man slicing the meat, whom I believe is named Mani, told me that they weren’t available today. However, when I walked to the back to get my drink, I saw a woman eating ribs. I approached him again, and he apologized, even though he had initially misled me about the ribs. The other staff member working with him was very rude and claimed that he doesn’t control how often the meat is ready to serve. At the very least, they could have informed me that more ribs would be available soon, but instead, he simply said there were no ribs. I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were treated unfairly, perhaps because I look Hispanic, while ribs were served to a white woman. To make matters worse, as we left, they were laughing and seemed to be making fun of us. The service was incredibly unprofessional and rude. I am very disappointed and will not return. This place doesn’t deserve any stars. If you’re looking for delicious food and excellent service, I recommend going to Soulman’s in Mesquite, TX, on Gross Road."
