"Pretty disappointing overall with a few small highlights here and there. This was for a birthday and we did note that on the reservation, it was never mentioned by the restaurant nor were our desserts adorned with a candle or similar. Table location was good, near the window and away from busy thoroughfares. Within minutes of being seated we were asked about drinks and food. We ordered drinks and appetizers. Our food came way before any drinks showed up and the staten island cocktail was like drinking lighter fluid. The beet salad was very good as were the riblets and the crab cakes are decent value. We should have cut and run at this point and I could have added a star. Trout and duck for entrees, the duck was nicely seasoned and well cooked but the accompaniments and the trout dish were poor at best. Bland and cold. Caramel pot de crème was good, the Italian hazelnut cake was not. Not enough servers meant we were rushed when we arrived and then ignored when we needed assistance. Putting up chairs and running the vacuum is amateur hour unless it’s an hour past closing which it certainly wasn’t. It was a coin toss between this place and one other nearby restaurant. Is it too late for 2 out of 3?"

Service was outstanding, the food was better than average, but the ambiance wasn’t what we’d hoped.

We each had a glass of wine and split three appetizers tuna carpaccio, “scallops” of celery root, Korean short ribs and split a butterscotch crème brûlée. Plenty for two light eaters. Service was a bit slow, but we weren’t in a hurry. View menu

The Thanksgiving prix fixe menu was very good in terms of quality and portions! We enjoyed the meal, especially the sausage-cornbread stuffing, deviled eggs, mashed potatoes and turkey. The only issue was the service. I know they were busy for the Holiday and staffing was probably a challenge, but the servers were less than attentive.

Wasn’t thrilled. Our reservation was at 6:30 and when they tried to seat us next to the kitchen, we asked to be moved to one of the 3 available 2-top tables next to the window. The host said “sorry those are for reservations”. So we reminded him we also had a reservation and he says “yours is for 6:45, theirs is for 6:30”. So, Um, ours WAS for 6:30, and even if it wasn’t, why would it be an issue for us to be at the window when we are there and the other reservations are not? Anyways, we get the window seat and the server is a tad abrasive. Maybe that’s just her personality. We ordered the ribeye for 2 and it was kind of gross. Maybe I’m spoiled with Steak10 steaks, but I ended up taking it...

"After hearing so many raves about this place, I am finally joining the crowd to add something nice to say about it. Do they need more great reviews at this point as they are already rated 5 stars? Well, I shall go ahead with it! Tokyo Premium Bakery far exceeded my expectation today. I thought it would be crowded but when I arrived at around 9:30am, there was only one person at the register. This place still has somewhat strict COVID protocol so customers are not allowed to walk up to the bakes goods and pick whatever you want. There are two printed menu with pictures of each item on them so you just have to tell the cashier person which one you want. In a way, it 's a really good practice that the breads/bakes goods are not constantly exposed to contaminants/germs. As I grew up in Japan, buying my favorite bread/baked goods at a bakery in my neighborhood was one of my routines. No matter which bakeries I went, they all had a huge selection of savory ones to sweet ones. The only thing that this Tokyo Premium Bakery is that their selection is not as big as I thought. So some items were simply sold out by the time I got there? Well, next time I go there, I will make sure to go at the open time. I wanted to pick three items but I simply had a hard time choosing so I went with two: Matcha Cream and Beef Curry. Matcha Cream was superb. They perfected the match (custard cream by putting just the right amount of match in it. This was simply delightful. Beef Curry (what the Japanese people call them is Curry Bread was something that reminded me of my days when I was just a kid growing up eating a bunch of the Curry Bread almost weekly. This definitely was my staple of my kid life. They made my morning and stomach so delightful; now I am regretting that I didn 't get a 3rd item!"
