"Overall excellent experience in a beautiful and elegant venue with some opportunities for improvement. We were immediately greeted by the hostess, escorted to our table and greeted by our server, who graciously explained the menu. The assistant server poured water and offered lemon and cucumber slices. They also brought a tray of five bread options and two butters to the table—all were delicious. We ordered cocktails (which were generous) and were also given complimentary sparkling wine for an occasion we were celebrating. We were offered an amuse bouche fig drenched in gazpacho which was the perfect palate opener. We ordered appetizers trout (mousse) served with toast points and while it was very flavorful it was over salted. An iceberg lettuce salad was crisp and fresh and served decomposed with generous lardons and the perfect dressing. All three main courses were served simultaneously and the portions were generous especially the fried chicken. The fillet was Perfectly cooked Medium rare, the truffle pasta was al dente and flavorful but a bit heavy on the sauce. The sides of green beans and mashed potatoes were enjoyed though lacked the sophistication of the other dishes one green bean was not cut and very stringy; the mashed potatoes could have been better seasoned and were underwhelming. The servers were very attentive and often refilled drinks as needed without request. For dessert we ordered the banana pudding an inventive and delightful presentation but the banana pudding lacked a bit of flavor. The blueberry dusted chocolate mousse was unusual and grew on the palate with a few bites. Everyone we encountered was gracious and attentive. A few constructive criticisms: the assistant server cleaned the table crumbs with a napkin and appeared to wipe them onto the carpet—a proper crumbed and plate would have been more appropriate. The room itself is very large and lacked warmth. Overall, a wonderful dinner followed by by an exciting Grand Prix!"

The ambiance, food quality, and wait staff were excellent. There was a bit too much time between seating, water service, drink orders, and food courses. Our waiter did the free us a complimentary appetizer for the table. A very special occasion restaurant.

For example, the avocado toast was frankly disappointing, with barely any avocado spread on cold toast for $18, and it didn’t come with any sides. The eggs Benedict was overcooked, and the sauce was bland. Unfortunately, we have a limited number of dining options here in Ocala, which allows them to remain busy despite their shortcomings, as they don’t feel the pressure to improve their quality. On a positive note, the pub, Yellow Pony, located within the hotel, serves consistently delicious food. Just be prepared to wait a long time since they don’t take reservations. View menu

Our brunch experience at Stirrups was fantastic. The service was amazing, the food was amazing, the mimosas and French vanilla latte were perfect, and the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. Our server was Alexis and she was so helpful and accommodating especially when we were originally reserved for outdoor but my husband’s allergies were really bad outside so she moved us inside with no issue and took great care of us while we were there. We will definitely be returning. The eggs Benedict was the best I have had with the eggs being poached perfectly. 10/10

Stirrups was off their game yesterday. The table was set with silverware but not napkins which we had to request after being seated. I ordered avocado toast which I have ordered before. Yesterdays version was very lacking with a thin green paste on a lonely piece of toast without any real avocado flavor. Two eggs ordered over easy were fried and over cooked. My request for hot sauce was noted but promptly ignored. Given the pricing and ambiance the food was really lacking. Our intent was to introduce friends to a top flight dining spot. I do not think based on yesterdays experience our friends will return.

"Disappointed: Four of us dined there last night, and walked away very unimpressed. We each ordered an appetizer and four entrées, and a glass of wine ahead of time. The foie gras and escargots were nice. The imported French cheese plate had a Manchego, a Comte and another goat. Manchego is from Spain and the goat cheese was not French that we could tell either. You would expect a nice double cream, etc. These seemed like Sam’s buying club bought cheeses. When we asked the waiter. he really just shrugged his shoulders. We also also ordered the steak tartare. House grind good, but Very bland there should’ve been some seasoning mixed in with the meat. As for the entrées, we ordered a beef Bourguignon, which was the best of all four entrées. The mushroom Tajine, which was just used to serve the meal. It was not used to cook the meal in as customary. This dish lacked proper seasoning, and missing walnuts. the brie cheese they did put in should have had the rind cut off. I ended up with strands of rind in my dish. I did not finish it. We also ordered the cassoulet which was pretty clear they used canned beans, the duck Confit was not confit but roasted. It was served with a sausage that was std didn’t even ask or see the pork belly. . And lastly was the chicken airline breast. The Cremini mushroom demi glace, did not taste homemade but very familiar to a canned soup. I’m not happy having to give this review, but after spending over $300 on this dinner, I expected a better meal. One of our dinner guests that evening was a chef so maybe that didn’t help?"
