"Friendly staff. We had no wait but we didn't arrive till after 7 pm. Clean place to eat. The food was good. I hade the smoked chicken and sausage dinner. Their sausage had a good flavor but was a lil on the tough and dry side. We would definately eat there again. Kid-friendliness: I took 3 of my granchildren and the staff was great with them. "I had been wanting to come here every time visiting Ames. It’s a small place and there was a 45 minute wait when we came in on a Saturday night. We waited anyway and got sat within 10 minutes. The place is tight and you can feel it is a local spot which is so nice. Their drink list was enormous with tons of options in each category. Lots of local options as well as traditional European options. Food was fantastic, my kids even liked theirs! Our waitress was working a double and seemed rushed at first but after chatting with her for a minute she seemed to relax and she was absolutely fantastic. I can’t wait to come back next time we’re in Ames!"

"It was a bad night. I've never felt the food was great but thought it was good. Unfortunately, I made a reservation but when we got there the table we asked for got snatched away before we could take it. Was told well, the outside tables are first come first serve. Then ordered my meal as gluten free. She even made a big deal about it...then brought me a gluten pasta. Had my boyfriend not asked to make sure, I would have assumed it was GF and just ate it. He ate his meal while I waited another 25 min to get mine. They did take it off my bill which was very nice. He had the salmon and said it was wonderful however sticky rice was plain and bland. It was just not a good night for them that night... maybe next time!!
