"Bistro de la Gare provided a delightful escape into the charm of classic French dining. Nestled conveniently near the train station, this bistro offers both locals and travelers a taste of authentic French cuisine. The ambiance, reminiscent of early 20th-century Paris, pairs beautifully with their expertly curated menu. From the escargot, which melted in my mouth, to the perfectly-seared duck confit, every dish was a testament to the chef's expertise. The attentive staff ensured a memorable experience. I'd highly recommend stopping by for a taste of France, whether you're just passing through or seeking a regular spot for your dining pleasure."

The fish was inedible and soaked in way too much sauce. The clams were mediocre at best and the kale salad was the best thing we ordered. I would not recommend this restaurant View menu

Bistro de la Gare is my go-to for a quality restaurant experience. The food is always perfect in preparation and presentation, the staff and Chef Bruno are always attentive and welcoming. I love the casual comfortable elegance that they always create.

Delicious traditional French cuisine with outside dining in a quiet setting in South Pasadena. Friendly servers, delicious food. Lot's of butter--but it's French so that's what you expect (and want), right? My wife and I shared two appetizers and an entree, and we were very satisfied. We have had the tarte tatin in the past and it was amazing. View menu

This authentic French bistro, located so close to a Gold Line station, is always a wonderful experience with its outdoor dining. My wife generally orders the mussels. We usually start with the olive tapenade which we both love. I have sampled the steak, the burger, and the bolognese sauced pasta. For those who prefer California chardonnay, they serve a Talbot. I choose one of the French reds. The outdoor dining is dog friendly. The only reason there was noise was the adjacent Farmer's Market and attendant foot traffic.

After reading the amazing reviewing on yelp we decided to try this bistro in a quiet and charming neighborhood. Appetizer 3 stars chicken pate generous portion with great taste! Escargot good sauce but the meat was on the smaller side. Main course 2.5 stars mussels besides sandy, the sizes of meat were as small as the escargots. I am not kidding! Confit duck leg one bite into the duck and i could taste the stale oil. I did not eat the duck and only fed on the beans and potatoes. I really like the location, service and the ambiance of the restaurant but it did not make up the below average main courses.

"My first time here. Celebrating my brother’s retirement. The crabmeat cocktail impressed me the most. The drinks were super. So was the Zin I had with dinner. The service was very good but I would not say exceptional. I ordered the soufflé moments after I sat down as I read online one needs to do if this is the dessert you desire at the end of your meal. When that time came and I mentioned it to the waiter, it appeared he did not make a note of it or write it down and had a pained look on his face. That did not make me a happy camper. However, within 2 3 minutes, a marvelous soufflé was delivered to me. It was fantastic! My steak was done perfectly but it was definitely too salty. My brother also had his steak prepared the same way as mine and it was the same cut – but his was rare to be sure, and not medium rare. He’s more kickback than I am so he did not want to send it back. However, I don’t expect that to happen at a steakhouse of this caliber. Also, I had wanted to order their peppercorn sauce to go along with my steak. I forgot to mention it but I wished our server would’ve asked me if I wanted one of their many sauces to go along with my steak. That would’ve jarred my memory. Too bad he didn’t.The side dishes were fantastic, especially the creamed spinach. I will probably revisit again sometime soon. But there is a lot of competition in Pasadena for fine dining. Also, had to wait 15 minutes for the valet to park the car. That was definitely not a plus. And this was a Thursday night."
