"Let me tell you about Harvey 's Pirate Restaurant in South Pittsburg. Let 's call it a 6 star hidden treasure in a 5 star world. Right now, it is in the #1 position for our top 5. When we pulled up, we weren 't sure they were open. It 's a small rundown building with broke windows. Upon entering, you 're greeted by Harvey. He 's old, doesn 't talk good, and country as it gets. It 's a sit anywhere place. We selected a ice round table. There were about 6 unmatched tables to choose from. As you walked across the floor, you could hear your shoes stick. The table had a few drips. Could have been wiped better. The walls are covered by old photographs... baseball, Nascar, misc. random people. There was a blow up dinosaur hanging from the ceiling covered in dust. There were sheets of Lowe 's insulation hanging on the walls. as we sat there... wondering if we should get up and leave this crusty, musty, dusty place, Harvey brought the menu 's and sweet tea. Tea is one of the things we judge in restaurants. It is the first thing we taste and this tea was perfect. They peel their potatoes. That 's also important to us. And, they use real potatoes. The shrimp was perfection. Perfect crunch and texture. The hamburger steak tasted like an old fashion hamburger steak from the 60 's. The daily special was meatloaf. You don 't get choices. I guess you could get substitutes. Didn 't ask. But I got the special which was meatloaf, cream corn, green beans, cornbread and strawberry cake. My only complaint was the sauce on the meatloaf was ketchup. I prefer the brown sugar/ketchup mixture. The entire meal was excellent. Made us forget the place was as nasty as our own kitchen. Maybe a little worse. We 'll be back next year. Hopefully, they 'll mop before then. Oh, and 3 of us ate for under $20."
