Our waitress was eager to make sure our first visit was outstanding. She took the time to chat with me, and I genuinely appreciated that.

After being seated, we waited for 35 minutes without any service, greeting, or acknowledgment. My wife and I decided to leave and ended up having a wonderful anniversary dinner at a different restaurant, which even offered us 50% off after hearing about our prior experience. We visited this restaurant for the first time and were blown away by the food! I ordered the bleu cheese-encrusted NY Strip ($40) along with potatoes au gratin, and it was fantastic. We both started with the clam chowder, which was exceptional. My wife chose the steak stroganoff, and it was just as impressive. Overall, I highly recommend this place! Favorite steakhouse by far!!! Any time I want to get a good gift for someone my go-to is gift certificates for George's. Filet mignon is phenomenal! Au gratin is cravable! Be sure to call ahead, they often serve large corporate groups and can back up regular dining at times. Love to see them so busy though! The bar area was fine and the one older lady was nice, the other bartender was okay... We sat down and the service was awkward. The waitress kind of seemed like she didn't know the menu or what goes with what. We both order french onion soup and it didn't come with cheese, which was ok, but then hear a couple next to us being offer to have cheese on theirs. The steaks were okay, not amazing but not bad. Then, the waitress took away with food still on it without asking if we were finished and it was too late by the time she walked away with it. Overall, not super impressed.

The food was tasty, earning a solid four out of five. I particularly enjoyed the onion rings, which were perfectly crisp and flavorful. The 7 oz tenderloin tips were also a highlight, cooked to perfection and very tender. Additionally, the potato skins were a delicious appetizer that I highly recommend. George's is one of the few true Steak Houses north of Milwaukee and the only one in the Fox Valley. We live in Oshkosh we're there is no Steak Houses and don't mind a 20 minute drive for a great steak. There were three of us tonight, Two had the Rib Eye tonight and it was perfect. It was so tender that it fell apart and could cut it easily. The other meal was the Friday Night Perch Special which was recently voted the best perch dinner in Northeast Wisconsin. As with the steaks everything was seasoned perfectly that nothing needed to be added.
