"If you are ever near York Beach, ME, you MUST stop and enjoy this darling restaurant. It 's like a delightful step back to the hospitality of the '60 's. We sat at a small table by a window with a little lamp which provided soft light and a quaint touch. Our server was very sweet and she offered her favorites when we asked for recommendations. My husband and I let ourselves enjoy their decadent sundaes made with homemade ice cream which they are known for. *There is a full menu to choose from. And there is also a little gift area which features a large case filled with delectable chocolates. Highly Recommend!!"

Great place on Short Sands Beach. Sit down restaurant with all kinds of candy, fudge, and taffy in front. You can even watch taffy (they are famous for it! being made in the storefront windows! Begun in 1896, I go there every time I'm in the area. Wintertime they are closed, but have a warehouse you can order from. Staff very friendly and quick. Busy!!

The Goldenrod is an absolute staple in the town of York. It has been in the same location, pumping out delicious food and salt water taffy since I was a kid! I am now 40 and I still love standing on the corner and watching the old fashioned machines rolling and wrapping the taffy. Their candy shop is great for the kids and the food is always hot and tasty. Love this place!

I 92 years old and i’ve been taken to , or gone to , Goldenrod all my life. My mother who died at age 86 some years ago went to Goldenrod from the time she was a small child, taking the trolley down from a Ogunquit. I still love love love, watching the taffy made in the window and I love eating all kinds but particularly peanut butter! Just need one more box this season- this one by mail. Thank you very much. I’ve been visiting here since the 1970’s. First with my parents, then my husband and small kids and now with my adult children and their spouses. I love the older style restaurant, the amazing taffy choices and that you can watch it being made and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. We had good meals, great fresh seafood and topped it off with a large box of assorted taffy flavors that we then enjoyed down by the beach. This place is an iconic historic landmark restaurant to visit for sure. They’ve been around for over 125 years!

No-frills New England home cooking that reminds me of growing up in northern NH in a French-American household. Features periodic specials like codfish cakes (pictured , doughy and delicious chicken bacon ranch flatbread, and more. If you want a “normal” sandwich or burger with chips, this is the place to get it! You can also order from the full ice cream fountain menu in the restaurant. The Kraft mac and cheese is a side order that’s perfect for kids, breakfast is served all day, and the dining area is large and great for families (no tablecloths for kids to pull on, etc. .
