"We had our reservation at 5 PM, on Sunday New Years Eve. Therefore, the noise level was very low not many people it was the beginning of the night for the restaurant. As soon as we came through the doors, the hostess was very cordial offered us a complementary wine. I don’t drink so he offered something else. We sat down stairs as we waited until 5pm. We enjoyed the atmosphere. We got there around 4:35 PM. At 5pm the hostess was very prompt in taking us up the stairs. We sat at a table. There were a few booths sitting against the wall. With in minutes of sitting down our waiter came over smiled greeted us. Our waiter was on que with our every need. Our glasses were never empty even though we only drank water. He explained in detail about the menu and the history of the old bank. My husband I ordered the artichoke dip appetizer. Before it came out, our waiter brought us out bread/oil blend. Then the artichoke dip came out. This is not a normal item we would order. It was so delicious, I could have ate a meal off this appetizer, if I ordered 2. Our main course was the salmon, which was exquisite. The taste was impeccable. The atmosphere was decked out for New Years Eve. This will definitely be a staple for us when we revisit A Mother’s Rest the Lawton Manor. We will see you in July.. until then have a wonderful new year. Heather Hill 01:01/2024"

"I usually Don't leave Reviews but I told myself I would if it ended up being any good, and well it was. I was a little worried with some of these Negative reviews but you really got to take those with a Grain of Salt. I got the MeatBall Sub Footlong and it was probably the best meatball sub I have ever had. To some, $10.00( On Doordash) may seem a little high but it's definitely quality meat and huge, I could only eat half and I always eat a Footlong from Subway, so I think it's priced accordingly. Will be ordering again"

"I ordered the salmon while my wife chose the sirloin, and we decided to share our meals for a bit of surf and turf. First, let’s talk about the salmon. It was offered in two styles: blackened or Jamaican jerk. I wasn't thrilled with these choices, as I usually prefer my fish grilled or broiled. My past experiences have shown that blackened salmon can often be dried out and ruin the fish, so I opted for the jerk style. Being from South Florida, I’m quite familiar with jerk spices and enjoy spicy food, but I was still a bit skeptical about how it would turn out. As is often the case with restaurants in northern Georgia, the fish was overcooked and dry. However, the flavor was decent and not overly spicy. The key to good fish is to cook it just until it starts to flake while still remaining tender and juicy, but this was instead hard and crumbly. Of course, any chef can have an off day, especially when it comes to cooking fish, which requires close attention to get it just right. Now onto the steak. My wife usually prefers ribeye, but since they only had sirloin, she ordered it rare. What arrived at our table was a nice, juicy medium-rare steak. It was tender, flavorful, and so good that my wife thought it was on par with ribeye. One side of the steak was blackened and salt-encrusted, which was a bit too salty for my taste, but overall, the flavors blended well. I would definitely order it again. My meal came with white rice, while she had a loaded baked potato. The rice was just standard white rice, and the potato was slightly hard and undercooked for my liking. I prefer my potatoes to be soft enough to be easily mashed with a fork, but this one didn’t quite meet that expectation. The atmosphere of the restaurant was typical of a sports lounge, with TVs everywhere and football games playing, but the volume was moderate enough that my wife and I could chat comfortably during dinner. There was also a good selection of beers on tap. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience. I wouldn’t recommend the salmon, but the steak was excellent."

"Stopped here for the first time for late lunch. Ordered the Rip Dip with fried okra (okra $2 extra) and the Chili cheeseburger with crinkle cut fries sprinkled with seasoning salt. Chili was on the spicy side but entire dish overall was very tasty. The Rip Dip was like a French dip. Roll was fresh and crusty outside and soft inside. Meat was tender and overall a tasty sandwich. The upgraded fried okra (in place of fries) were good but even though the menu indicated they were house made , I can 't equivocally verify that. To me, they seemed not too different from boxed/frozen. But they were fried well...and not greasy. Our overall visit there was positive; staff was efficient and friendly and the restaurant was clean and designed nicely to represent an old fashioned diner. Our only suggestion would be to offer more variety (didn 't even see a hot dog on the menu) as most diners do. Maybe they scaled back because of the pandemic. An old menu from a number of years reflected more meal options."
