"The service and experience is what drove up the rating, but if I was strictly rating the food, it would be 0 stars. Ordered several breakfast plates and the bacon was burnt and bitter. The hasbrowns were soggy. The omelet was OK. We also ordered dinner plates to go. My family cooks a lot of short ribs, so we thought we should give their Braised short rib a try. It was definitely not short rib, rather chick roast. The meat was very dry and lacked any flavor. The meatloaf was also very tough. The best part about dinner were the vegetable medley. Our family would not be coming back."

Great diner, good food. It's worth checking out if downtown. Parking is in the garage, which isn't far from Mel's diner.

I went at midnight and the atmosphere was great, and the servers were super nice. They have good sandwiches and are one of the latest open in the area that serves full meals. Vegan and gluten free options.

This was my first time dining at this fantastic restaurant with my family, and we enjoyed the food, the ambiance, the service, and the friendly and welcoming staff. We had a great experience with our meals and drinks and would highly recommend this restaurant. View menu

This is a decent diner with a 50's vibe. When I went in for a quick bite, I found it to be spacious inside. The service was good, the food was decent, but the real selling point is the nostalgic atmosphere. If you're in the area and want a fast meal, definitely give this place a try.

I love diners and I love Mel's! The fried chicken is absolutely amazing. Portions are generous. Prices are reasonable. Service is outstanding. What more could you ask for??? You'll want to visit a few times to make sure you are able order different dishes from the menu. You'll want to try everything!

I don't get to visit here often since I have no reason to visit San Francisco due to how horrible it is currently. I loved coming here though. The restaurant is awesome and the food is amazing. Prices were good the last time I visited and the food was satisfying and delicious. It aleays teminds me of American Graffiti too since a Mel's was featured in that film. View menu

I recently dined at this restaurant for the first time in several years. The interior is pleasant and the surrounding area has improved in the last few months, although there is still less traffic than before the pandemic. I was disappointed with the French Dip sandwich, as it seemed to be lacking in portion size for the price. However, other menu options looked promising. The restaurant still retains its old-time charm and history, with good service. While the prices were slightly high, they were still reasonable.

The best part of Mel’s Drive In is its American diner atmosphere, complete with neon lights and jukeboxes scattered throughout. There is counter seating in front of the kitchen, as well as a mix of booth and table seating. The noise level can get a bit loud at times, adding to the bustling ambiance. The pricing at Mel’s Drive In is average for the quality of food being served. The service was good, with friendly staff and quick food delivery after ordering. Overall, Mel’s Drive In provides a nostalgic dining experience with good food and efficient service.

"Earlier this year Salty 's was featured in one of the top 100 places to eat in the Bay Area in 2022, and after trying it a couple times, it 's easy to see why. Quality and flavor, great customer service, it checks all those boxes. I occasionally visit the 24 hour fitness on Van Ness, and Salty 's happens to be just few short blocks away which makes it perfect when I 'm looking for a post-workout sandwich. And for those that know me, I love me my sandwiches. On my latest visit, I decided to go with the 'Glorious B sandwich, which come with turkey, bacon, avocado, pepper jack, veggies, and garlic mayo. The blend of flavors and high quality of the turkey is no wonder it 's at the very top of the menu list. It 's one of those sandwiches, that you can bring to park and not need a ton of napkins to get through. It was well put together, with the ratio of all the ingredients matching well. Nothing overpowering, just sandwich perfection. The size of the sandwich I thought was the perfect size for my appetite. As I 've gotten older I can 't put down as much food as I used to, and after one-half I knew I could 've stopped eating, be content, saved the rest for later. But of course I ate the whole thing and nothing sounds better than taking a quick power nap right after. I love that their menu has so many different sandwich combinations, so definitely take time to check their menu before calling-in/walking-in to order because it 'll definitely save you some time. On my latest visit, I was in and out in 10 minutes. Definitely towards the top of my list of sandwiches in this part of town!"
