"I am constantly searching for great southern food. To me, the gold standards are Mrs. Wilkes in Savannah, Puckett's Grocery in Nashville and The Senators Place in Cleveland, MS. Unfortunately, The Senators Place has closed, and I needed to find a great replacement. Well, I found it. This place is absolutely as good as you can get in southern dishes. I tried oxtail for the first time, and it is absolutely incredible. Tender and tasty, with fall off the bone texture. It was served over a bed of white rice with a delicious gravy poured over both. The fried okra is not Cracker Barrel okra, but real down-home okra. The collards I had were sweet and soft with an amazing taste. My wife had this pork chop lunch that featured two pork chops, one smothered and the other pan fried. Both were sensational. She had the black-eyed peas and cabbage. I tried both and they were great. Similar to the collards, the peas had a sweetness that added to a great flavor. Now it gets better. For dessert, we had the peach cobbler. All I will say about it is that if they would have put vanilla ice cream on it, I would be still there eating it. Hot and full of peaches, just delicious. Somehow, we got our order messed up and ended up with a hamburger steak over rice (yes, and with that great gravy over both). Since it was a mistake, they were nice enough to allow us to carry it out at no cost. Service was like walking into your family's kitchen for lunch. You would have thought that we were regulars for the way we were treated. Tesha Johnson and the rest of the crew will make you feel at home with sincerity, nothing phony about this place. The only problem I have is that there are other spots in Montgomery I want to try, but there is no way I don't hit this spot every time I am in the area. You must try this."
