"I have been at other restaurants associated with a culinary school and this one was a bit pretentious and lacked the warmth that students brought to the other ones. The foot was overall good but the pappardelle that my daughter ordered were disappointing: I presume they were homemade, in which case they should have been thinner, but most importantly cooked through. Al dente applies only to durum wheat pasta: pasta all'uovo like the pappardelle needs to be cooked well. The anima of these ones was hard and the noodles stiff. The other dishes we ordered broiled quail, peanut soup, burger were tasty, although the chips were too salty. The desserts a variation on the carrot cake theme and a bread pudding were the highlights of the dinner."

I've tried several times to dine at this restaurant, but the timing never worked until this visit.

The food was outstanding, and we always enjoy the atmosphere! While our server was a bit laid-back at times, she was very pleasant and friendly.

The service was outstanding, and the meals prepared upon request were delicious. The pre-dinner cocktails were expertly mixed, and the desserts were equally delightful. View menu

The salmon was insanely good. Crispy skin and like butter inside. The fingerling potatoes were also perfectly cooked and seasoned. Cauliflower appetizer was a little weird though.

The restaurant was clean and pleasant! The service was excellent. While the food wasn't particularly remarkable, the overall atmosphere was enjoyable. It would have been nice to have some background music, perhaps some light jazz.

The Class Act is consistently a great option. The food is well-prepared, and the service is outstanding, thanks to the dedication of the students studying food and hotel management. Since it's located in a hotel, the restaurant offers hours that aren't always available at other local dining establishments. Our main courses were excellent, particularly the salmon. The only downside was that the butter served with the bread was unusually salty. View menu

what a jewel we have in cedar rapids! access to top shelf-food options to less expensive trips and without compromise in quality is great. the personal was friendly and attentive. our server was personal and yet in principle in its service role. and kudos to the cook, our steaks were tasteful, succulent, lightly kissed by char, packed in love. such a blessing, culinary students to give an amazingly designed environment to put their skills on the test. this place is really, a class act! thank you!

I was in other restaurants connected to a culinary school, and this was a bit pretentious and lacked the warmth that the students brought to the others. the foot was altogether good, but the pappardelle who had ordered my daughter were disappointing: I suspect they were homemade, in which case they should have been thinner, but above all cooked by. al dente applies only to hard wheat paste: pasta all’uovo as the pappardelle must be well cooked. the anima this was hard and the noodles stiff. the other dishes that we bruised, ordered soup, were burger tasty, although the chips were too salty. the desserts a variation on the carrot cake thema and a brotpudding were the highlights of dinner.

"Went here for a celebration dinner. The seating by the windows was lovely. The server was very helpful answering questions and didn’t rush us. All the appetizers, meat/fish entree’s, and desserts we tried tasted delicious. A bit pricey, but we knew this from looking at their menu online beforehand.Dishes we tried: calamari, caprese bruschetta, focaccia, seafood bake, salmon, and the surf and turf. The appetizers were all tasty and good to share between 4 people. Really loved the crispness of the calamari with the dipping sauce, the caprese bruschetta was my favorite and a plus for it being vegetarian. I liked the spread that came with the focaccia, but the bread itself was a bit bland for me.The seafood bake was light and creamy and served hot out the oven with the right amount of seafood-pasta mix for me. Tasted even better with added parmesan. The pilaf and veggies complemented the salmon well. The desserts we tried were all a decent size for sharing and they all tasted delightful. The salted caramel crème brûlée was so light and creamy, and had enough sweetness with a touch of salt to my liking. Both the blueberry NY style cheesecake and the lemon-raspberry NY style cheesecake tasted so good, not super sweet and the cheese part was just right. I personally preferred the lemon-raspberry topping over the blueberry because of the tangier taste, but they both were great choices.I would recommend adding the dessert menu online for people to see the different options ahead of time. Overall, a great dining experience that I would recommend."
