"The food at this restaurant is outstanding, with great service and reasonable prices—it’s some of the best food I've ever had. It rivals Cracker Barrel and surpasses many other places regardless of their prices. However, I have to update my review after a recent visit with my wife at the end of February. We ordered two New York strip steaks, and unfortunately, they were among the worst we've ever had. They were tough and lacking in flavor, which makes me think they might not be sourcing from the same vendor as before. While I understand that prices for everything have gone up, I expect a premium steak for $28—something tender and flavorful. I was also disappointed to find that they don’t offer Ribeyes, which is my favorite cut. Regarding the owner's response to my review, which suggested they would "look into it," that felt dismissive and as if they were questioning my honesty. I understand rising costs, but I can’t accept paying higher prices for an inferior product. I've been a loyal customer of PMG for over twenty years, driving more than thirty miles each way to enjoy a meal there, and it's disheartening that our favorite mountain restaurant has fallen short of the high standards we're used to. As a simple country guy, I know the difference between good aged steaks and whatever lesser quality product is being served now."

This place serves the best breakfast in the area! I really enjoy dining here. I took my father-in-law and mother-in-law, and they loved it as well.

Waited an hour for food after arriving at around 4:00 on a Saturday. Food was ok but not great. Seems like they may be struggling with staffing like many restaurants are these days.

Great food, good menu variety, nice county menu options. The little store is cute too. A good place to eat after having adventures in Kentucky. The open face roast beef is on point.!! View menu

Service was very fast, server was also friendly. The food (breakfast) was very good, especially the apples. Gift shop was good in stock and the candles smell amazing, so we bought one after our meal.

Not a good place for a vegetarian or Vegan. The Vegetable soup has hamburger in it. (Nullifying it as a vegetable soup. Change the name to vegetable beef) No veggie plates offered unless you want to pay $3 for each veggie.

It was a very good and peaceful atmosphere. I had breakfast there on my visit, and I enjoyed it. I got the right order of my Neal and at a very good price also. It has a neat gift shop with unique gifts . The decor was very neat looking too and somehowdisplays of pictures were really informative with their little write ups about their history. View menu

If you find yourself in the Pine Mountain area of Kentucky, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. We've been enjoying this cozy spot for the past 17 years, and it never disappoints. The food is delicious, with highlights including perfectly roasted green tomatoes, tender chicken, succulent pot roast, and flavorful pork chops. The service is exceptional, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The restaurant is also very clean and has been compliant with COVID-19 safety measures for over 20 years. Whenever we’re in the area, we make it a point to stop by, and we always receive great service.

My family loves to eat here. Even the kids find something they will eat. Locally owned with a good representation of Appalachian cuisine. Wait times are seldom an issue but expect a large crowd after Sunday services. The food is adequately priced, serviceis great, portion sizes are more than enough and tastes like home. My favorites are the ribs or Philly cheese and anything fromthe breakfast menu. Salad bar is awesome and always ask for rolls. Nice gift shop full of independent artisans and localtrinkets. Enough space to accommodate large parties, catering, weddings, conferences, etc. plus it?s a short drive to the top ofPine Mountain where you can catch a view like nowhere else. Great suns...

"A cute spot for delicious American comfort food. With its expansive menu, adorable interior, and kind servers, this is definitely one of the top places to go in Whitesburg, Kentucky. The food itself was delightful, but I was a bit disappointed by the lack of vegetarian or plant-based options. I visited Heritage Kitchen with a party of twelve, six of whom were vegetarian. Several of us wanted to try out the black bean burger (which was phenomenal and is pictured below), but there were, unfortunately, only two patties left. If you are vegan or vegetarian, I wouldn't necessarily recommend this particular restaurant; there are certainly plant-based options, but they are exceedingly limited. Additionally, I was a bit disappointed in the quality of service that we received. We were, of course, a fairly large party, which made us difficult to serve. Our meal started out perfectly with two delicious appetizers (the spinach and artichoke dip and the baked brie, both of which are to die for). The meal, however, started to go downhill from there. It took the restaurant an above-average amount of time to bring out our food and, when we finally did receive our food, it was at inconsistent times and was often already cold. One member of our party received their food before the appetizers were even brought to our table and the last person to eat didn't receive their food until more than an hour and a half later. Most of the dishes that were brought out seemed to have been reheated or were simply left cold. While I was a bit disappointed in this experience, I fully recognize that we were a fairly large party and that Heritage Kitchen likely wasn't prepared for such a large group of (vegetarian) college students, and I don't believe that this experience was necessarily a proper reflection of their capabilities and service. The food truly was delightful and the servers were incredibly kind, so if you plan to visit with a large group of people, especially if your party includes people with dietary restrictions, to call ahead."
