"The food was absolutely fantastic. We ordered a variety of dishes, including a fried lobster tail, oysters, a wonderfully flavored strawberry salad, lobster mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts, some delicious Wagyu beef, and perfectly seasoned carrots. One member of our group had the lamb, which was praised as perfect. I was also treated to their soufflé, which was incredibly tender and flavorful. I have to give a special mention to the scrumptious bread! Our server was very helpful with flavor recommendations and was both friendly and knowledgeable. If you’re in the Des Moines area and looking for an excellent steakhouse, 801 Chophouse is definitely the place to be."

Perfect place with American Spirit But be careful with the kitchen. Franch potatoes was burned. The same for rare medium . Service started well. The maitre d ' was very kind and attentive. But when the waiter came, everything changed. And to top it off, he was clearly not happy with the $30 tip he left, and expressed his opinion about it.

The food is decent. I had the double pork chops. Ordered medium. They were a little tough. I also had the broccolini which was fantastic with the hollandaise sauce. The creamed Spinach was watery. The garlic mashed was good. Server was attentive. I was able to try the lamb and it was amazing. Overall this Iowa location is a good spot and experience.

My wife and I have visited 801 on several occasions. The food was amazing as usual. This experience was without a doubt the best, thanks to Michael. He was extremely professional and paid attention to detail. He definitely made this visit more enjoyable. We will ask for him every time we visit from now on!!!! He was AMAZING!!!! My food was great but my server Kristen let someone put the wrong steak in front of me then when I said something at the end she was trying to get mad at me because she trying to tell me my bf had my steak which was not true a strip doesn’t look like ribeye at all then I talked to manger he telling me the same thing instead of trying to support me to my needs which is coo I will never be back I work at a restaurant and if a customer had a problem like me we would fully compensate my customer to their needs instead of arguing with them .!

We celebrated my husband's birthday at 801 Chophouse, and we had a truly delightful meal. We began with the beef carpaccio, which was absolutely delicious. For my main course, I chose the salmon, which was accompanied by wonderful flavors that burst in my mouth. I didn't realize it came with sides, so we ordered the creamed spinach as well, which ended up coming home with us. For dessert, he had the coffee cake, while I opted for the chocolate soufflé—I definitely need to return just for that. It was incredibly delicious and hands down the best meal I've had so far in Des Moines!
