"Our 1st time there, pretty disappointing. The dirty rice was dry, the second batch was dry, the 3rd attempt was edible. The hush puppies tasted like they were soaked in grease and left they to soak up the grease, I couldn't eat them. The cat fish was delicious and juicy, just like I like it. The tartar sauce was not good, it didn't have much flavor besides the flavor of mayonnaise. The iced tea..... wow, what a failure!!! Who screws up on making iced tea, unless it was fountain tea, which it may very well been because it was all water, no flavor, not sweet at all. The ice inside the glass wouldn't even get it cold cold. The steak was undercooked. The baked potato was small, and they charge extra for that. The cole slaw was ok but I didn't really like it. The cabbage was cut into thick tiny sized squares and loaded with mayo that was so heavy you couldn't really taste the cabbage. There were not that many people inside this place, at 6:30 pm, and we now know why. The service was good, the waitress tried really hard to make it a good experience for us. We will not be going back there again though. There is no desert menu btw. There is a full bar there, not sure what that was like though. The decor is OLD, VINTAGE, and lots of TVs throughout the restaurant."

The food at this restaurant was delicious and everything tasted amazing. I ordered the 6 oz sirloin cooked medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. The bread was also delicious and the service was decent. The atmosphere was simple but pleasant overall.

Very awesome steakhouse, I had the New York strip medium rare. Cooked to perfect and so flavorful you'll consider putting any sauce on it a crime. You can never go wrong with local Texas beef! Service was quick, responsive, and pleasant, with only the local Texas decor to match it. If you're craving a really good steak or any other local favorites, this place should be on your bucket list.

Initial service wasn't too great, but the waiter that took our table apologized and did an excellent job. My husband received a well seasoned, decent portion of steak cooked exactly medium rare to his liking. My regular sized chicken fried steak's (approx size of oval dinner plate) breading was well seasoned, with a good portion of gravy and not overcooked so more on the tender side. We used to stop coming to this restaurant 15 years ago because it always smelled like cigarette smoke while we were trying to eat. We recently heard that Hofbrau Steaks had become smoke-free, so we decided to give it another try. For the most part, our meal was indeed smoke-free. However, when someone smoked outside, the smoke would sometimes waft back into the restaurant through the open entrance doors. The country fried steak with white gravy was excellent. We stopped coming here 15 years ago due to place always smelling like cigarette smoke while we tried to eat. We read recently that Hofbrau Steaks was smoke free so we revisited. For the majority of our meal, it really was smoke free. However, due to the entryway doors remaining open, whenever someone was smoking outside the smoke blew back into the restaurant.
