"I was researching what to do to celebrate my 18th anniversary with my wife when I came across this hotel. My wife usually prefers to stay at places that are right on one of the Great Lakes so I was taking a gamble when I chose the Terrace Inn. After researching the area a little more I knew that she would love the hotel and the whole Bay View area. She was instantly impressed when we got into the area and fell in love with the hotel the second we pulled up. We have always shared a love of historical buildings and we absolutely adored everything about the Terrace Inn. This isn’t really a hotel to just camp out in your room so choosing the modest garden room with the two twin beds was no issue. It actually worked out great because I spent so many years on third shift that we’ve grown accustomed to sleeping in separate beds. The only small issue would be well, for someone who isn’t small. I’m 5’7” and the shower head was right at my head. I just ducked a little and it was fine. Keep that in mind if you are booking 102 and are on the taller side. We never got a chance to eat dinner at the 1911 restaurant but we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. It was a wonderful experience having it out on the back deck. On our last night, we walked down the back stairs and down across the pedestrian bridge to the pier by the Bay View Private Beach to watch the sunset. Approaching the grand staircase of the Inn at dusk was picture perfect and a fitting end to our last night. I’ll add the photo I took to this review but it doesn’t do it justice. The only downside to our trip for me is that I don’t know how I’ll top it for our next anniversary. I guess we’ll just have to come back!"

The antiquity of the building drew us in. It was a great space. At night however we heard every voice and movement. Breakfast was good but the restaurant was closed for the 2 days we stayed. Found that out when we got there so call and ask.

We stayed for our 15th anniversary in late September and they were great! The customer service was top notch, the breakfast in the morning was great and the jacuzzi suite was very comfortable and large. They helped us with multiple requests and one minor issue with our television. We will be staying here again! View menu

Had a lovely stay here at this historical piece of northern Michigan. The service is very friendly and accommodating and the food is just excellent. We even met a new friend, a lady in all white who kept passing by us in the hall. Her and all the other guests were very kind and curtious to us and over all was just a great time and would stay again :

Beautiful area and building, with friendly staff. Belinda checked us in and then was also there at check out time; she was especially lovely and so was everyone else. We had room 100, which I think was the largest room with a king bed, oversizedbathtub, large shower and bathroom. We were right off the main sitting room and next door to another room but it was very quietall night long. The restaurant was exquisite but we had a large lunch in town so weren?t hungry for dinner unfortunately so wedidn?t try it. But we ate in the dining room for the buffet breakfast. A lot of options to suit my husband and my varied tastes, served by a friendly lady. We ate more than enough. We went for a long wal... View menu

We stayed in the apartment quarters. The place is authentically OLD, with painted wooden floors. The windows are all covered up with curtains that can't be opened, so it's dark in there and feels a bit claustrophobic. I tried to move the curtains back in the bedroom to let some light in but the curtain rod came down. The bedroom portion of the apartment is below the restaurant, so there is noise above, but a jar of earplugs is provided in the bathroom. The bathroom light didn't work. There is a kitchen in the unit but no cloth or paper towels were provided except for a basket of rags under the sink that weren't folded, so wasn't sure if they were suitable to use? I don't know what the regular...
