"it was disappointing. we went to lunch on Saturday, so maybe this had something to do with it. I ordered the chopped salate and it wasn't really a chopped salate. only the salate was chopped. very little of the Italian meat in it and the salat dressing was really sweet. they told us later that honey is in what seems strange for an Italian salad. I didn't eat it and they didn't sue us. my man had the Salmon special that was on pasta. the pasta was perfectly cooked and the truffle and olive oil very good. but they could smell the salmon, as he was put on the table. it must have been old. we had the flat bread cup that was good, and a few brot with her olive oil and tomato dipping sauce, which was also good. our server was great and treated the salat output accordingly. it is a really nice environment and the bar looked like a great place to hang out."

Great menu, great service, warm ambiance! Our pasta dishes were so good! A lot of variations of traditional Italian dishes, many i wanted to try so definitely will go back on our next visit to Newark!

Food is outstanding, we’ve been several times and never had a bad meal. Great attention to detail. Good mix of classic standbys and innovative dishes. But by far the brass part is the bread and other things they bake themselves. Their bread is out of this world good.

My wife and I have been going to Taverna since it opened. We have always enjoyed their sister location Capers and Lemons and the Newark location does not disappoint. With Newark being the hub for the U of DE, restaurants in the area do not have the employee problems other out of town places have. There were plenty of wait staff, bartenders, and hostesses taking care of all the customers. The food is fresh, and the orders are a good size. No one leaves here hungry. Great beer and wine selection too. We were celebrating our anniversary and had a great meal. View menu

taverna in newark never disappointed, even on a busy Friday evening in college city. we were immediately set by the hostess and welcomed by our server quickly. eric took care of us to get water, bread basket and our wine order to the table. we share an salad for a starter, then enjoyed the excellent rigatoni with Italian sausage and house made fattyuccine a la oila with delicate pork and escarole. both of them were plentiful and filled, so that we eat a part of them home for the next day. the dining room and the bar were full, but our service was very good. it was a bit loud because of the full capacity of the restaurant, but it is still a welcoming, casual environment. there are many public...

this was a lunch with a potential faculty candidate so an important meal and we had a timeline to keep. the service was so slow, we didn't have our food an hour and 15 minutes after that sitting, and no one came to check us, let us know the status of our food, or seemed like they even killed themselves. we had to get up and find out the server to ask that our meals are opened because we ran out of time to eat in the restaurant. even this took too much time 20 minutes between the request to go our meals. our kandidat and another in our party had to come back to the interview while the rest of us had to stay behind to get food. it was embarrassing and unacceptable given the prices and expectat...

"On Wednesday 12/06 I went to Banzai Sushi, I have never received such bad service in my life… Every time I remember my experience, I get angry, the waitress is rude and has a horrible attitude! It's a shame because the food there is wonderful, but the service is so SO BAD that I lost my appetite. When I got there, there was some water spilled on the table, she took my stepfather's DIRTY NAPKIN to clean it and just left it there. When I asked for things she responded with an ignorant, rude tone. My partner doesn't eat any type of animal protein other than shrimp. So we asked if we could replace the salmon with shrimp in a poke, she checked in the kitchen and said everything was fine. When she came back, I placed my order and she was doing something at the other table, but said to continue because she was listening….my partner also talking about swapping salmon for shrimp at the end and the waitress replies “so it's not like that at all what you want, is something different” and simply left leaving us talking to the wall. When our order arrived, my order came out wrong. I called her and she simply replied “BUT ALSO, WITH HER MAKING ALL THIS MESS WITH SALMON AND SHRIMP…”, sorry, but for me that was the end of the bite. It's okay to get the order wrong, I know it happens, but blaming the customer? Every time she passed by our table I saw her making faces and looking at the kitchen. I thought it was a huge lack of respect, we are paying customers. On top of that, it also includes a 15% tip. Normally, if I receive good service, I will give 20%, after all, I work in customer service and value professionals in my field. And if the service was just bad, I wouldn't bother coming here to report it... But it was horrible"
