"Food was great as always! A classic in Newburyport you can always rely on for great dishes again and again. Service was horrible the minute we sat down. This was an annual Christmas gathering we have done for years and years and have never encountered any issues. We didn’t see the server for probably ten minutes once we sat. Drinks were ordered but no waters. Ten minutes later we each had to ask for waters. Just no personality but instead very forced friendliness. We didn’t see her much as far as asking for drinks or how the food was. We would have all ordered another round if we felt like it wouldn’t take as long or inconvenience her. When it came time to split the bill, a person in our party had a specific way he asked for it to be done. It wasn’t done correctly and when the server was asked if it could be fixed, their reply was “that’s the way it worked out” which was frustrating. It was like she couldn’t leave fast enough. A manager asked how she was and I didn’t want to answer in front of our group so here’s my review. We have had great service through the years and love visiting and hope we can keep doing so."

Beautiful evening with friends. Dinner was exceptional and made even better with our waitstaff Fiona. Staff is very friendly, from reservation to seating. The web site pictures do not do this justice. Cozy, upscale and inviting.

Surprisingly mediocre given the reviews. I had the seafood risotto and my friends had burgers. My risotto did have a lot of seafood, but everything tasted like frozen supermarket food. As a side note, the host told us they were out of lobster rolls and then after ordering we noticed people getting lobster rolls. Just a bit... odd.

Being allergic to wheat just plain sucks! Having a place like Loretta's makes things better! Our first visit (and surely not our last) was a true delight! Being allergic to beef and chicken as well, does not leave many options! I ordered the pork dish which was so tender and delicious, I was tempted to lap my plate when done. The owner advised that it was an acceptable thing to do at his place! BTW, their brussel sprouts were delicious but don't tell anyone I said that! This is a mainstay of the area, and has always had great food and friendly service. I had the occasion to visit recently for their well known Sunday brunch, and I was as satisfied as in my previous trips. The live Jazz music adds a lot to the warm ambiance of the place. I had extraordinary service from Marissa, who is very friendly and customer focused and made sure I had a good experience. The Crab Cake appetizer was just mouthwatering, and the Thai Chicken Lettuce wrap entree was every bit as flavorful and appetizing. Topping that off with the delicious Lemon Cello cake for dessert made the whole brunch a wonderful experience. Highly recommend this restaurant; worth a stop.

Had dinner to celebrate our friend’s 50th birthday and the food was great, but nothing noteworthy to write home about. It was another dinner out on the town. Later that night (actually around 2 in the morning) I realized I had lost my bracelet, and having stayed the night in Newburyport, my husband and I, along with the birthday boy and his wife, retraced our steps back to Loretta’s prior to getting something to eat for a late breakfast to see if my lost bracelet had been found.
