"Tonight, we dined at Mitch 's on the El Paseo and Portola in Palm Desert. The place was packed! Outdoors we noticed a great beautiful white bougainvillea, which aren 't that common. We 've been many times here. There were five of us dining tonight, sitting outdoors in the evening. A bitter wind came up, and we all got chilly. But then they turned on these beautiful heaters. And we suddenly noticed that all the booths were lighted up and had been recovered in a new delightful, fresh print. Our waitress, Mallory, who we 've had many times before, was her usual cheery self. Small complaint, despite specifically asking them to time the courses, they came on top of each other, and we did feel rushed. Our host bought a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio (See pic), which was excellent. It wasn 't Silver Oak excellent, but very nice. For starters, the other guests split Caesar salads, our host had his favorite soup, French Onion . He noted they put chives in which is abnormal, but he thought tasted ok. I had the Caprese Salad, which was beautifully presented with Heirloom Tomatoes and Burrata cheese. The burratta was not as smooth as in past but still yummy. For entrees, the host ordered the duck and thought it was delicious; his date had an enormous pork chop (See pic), which was served with potatoes and green beans. She said it was on the borderline of being too well cooked, but was ok. The other two guests both had the filet mignon, which I double-checked was cooked a true Medium Rare. I had two orders of sushi, California roll 6 piece, and Crunchy Tempura (also known as a Carburator Roll) 12 piece. Couldn 't eat the CA rolls and took those home (too full). We declined dessert coffee but I took pix of the menu. Enjoy!"

All the dishes we ordered were excellent. The sushi rolls full of flavor, the scallops were perfect, the sole melted in the mouth. I wish this place was closer to home! View menu

What an amazing restaurant! In town from Arkansas and this is the best meal we had. The filet was perfect and the crème brûlée topped off the night. Mitch came to the table to see how the experience was and his staff are great. I would def recommend!

Mitch's is my go-to place whenever I visit the desert. Their food is consistently fresh and delicious! The sushi is absolutely amazing. I enjoy sitting at the bar and ordering one of their fabulous martinis. Stacey, the bartender, is incredibly friendly and attentive—she's my favorite part of the experience. This place is ideal for people-watching, enjoying a cozy date, or simply indulging in great food. I highly recommend it! View menu

The perfect trifecta, fresh well prepared and presented food, friendly informed professional service and really nice friendly environment starting with Mitch. It’s been our favorite go to restaurant in the Coachella Valley for some time and it’s very consistently great. We have often had the same food because we just love it, but last evening a gentleman next to us had the duck and it looked so good I almost asked him for a bite. I’ve committed to trying it next time we are there, which I understand won’t be until the first Tuesday of October. That’s the only bad thing about Mitch’s, is that their not open during the summer.

My wife and I took our two friends to Mitch's on El Paseo for a special dinner. We were all very impressed with the food and the service. The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor patio, and we were seated in a comfortable table. The menu has a wide variety of seafood dishes, and we all found something to our liking. We ordered the lobster bisque, the grilled salmon, the seared scallops, and the lobster tail. The food was all delicious, and the service was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure that we had everything we needed. We had a wonderful time at Mitch's on El Paseo, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special dining experience. Here are some of the things...

"**ORDERED ITEM:** Modern Hippie Veggie (with added seitan) **TASTE:** First of all, if you take a quick look at some Yelp photos, you'll see how visually appealing this sandwich is, and mine looked exactly like that. But it’s not just about looks; it tastes amazing and has a wonderful texture as well. The sandwich features crack cheese, avocado, gomasio (a sesame and sea salt blend), tomato, jicama, shredded carrot, cucumber, purple pickled cabbage, fresh lettuce, and mayo on country levain bread. I opted to add seitan for extra protein. There’s a ton of ingredients packed into this sandwich, but everything comes together beautifully, resulting in a truly fantastic meal. The vegetables were all incredibly fresh and crisp, making the sandwich feel refreshing. In terms of flavor, the crack cheese has a tangy note similar to hummus. The sweetness from the carrots, the light pickling of the cabbage, the heartiness of the seitan, and the nuttiness from the gomasio blend harmoniously to create a delicious bite. I could easily eat this sandwich several times a week without any guilt. The levain bread has a nice sourdough vibe, just so you know. It’s also generously sized, making it shareable for two if you’re not too hungry. **SERVICE:** The cashier who took my order was friendly and had a positive attitude, which always makes the food taste better. You simply place your order at the register, and they bring the food to your table. I arrived about 30 minutes after they opened (11 AM) on Saturday of Labor Day weekend, and I was able to walk right in, order, and sit down without waiting. However, it did get busy shortly after, and by the time I finished my meal, there was someone waiting for my table. **LOCATION & PARKING:** This might be as helpful as a..."

"After selecting alternative dishes, the troubles continued when the restaurant failed to remove the duck from our bill, leading to an incorrect charge of $40. When we brought it to their attention, the resolution process was anything but smooth. They informed us that the refund would take 2 to 3 days to process, and, without prior notice, they recharged us the correct amount, which totaled almost $400. It was clear that Cork Tree Restaurant does not focus on providing exceptional dining experiences or catering to special celebrations. Instead, it seems to attract patrons who are willing to spend large sums on a single meal. In contrast, our visit to Cliffside was a delight—outstanding food, impeccable service, and a lovely atmosphere, all at a surprisingly lower price point. The differences between our experiences at Cork Tree and Cliffside underscored the importance of attentive customer service and quality dining. Cork Tree’s attempts to make amends, which included offering a gift card or voiding our bill, felt insufficient once the damage to our honeymoon experience had been done. As retail store managers ourselves, we understand customer service standards and that mistakes can occur. We’re not ones to make unreasonable complaints; we've dealt with our fair share of difficult customers. However, the series of errors at Cork Tree resulted in a significant amount being held on our account during our honeymoon, without any prior notice or a clear resolution. In conclusion, if you're in search of a remarkable dining experience, you might want to consider places like Cliffside, which prioritize exceptional service and high-quality cuisine without the steep prices associated with Cork Tree Restaurant."
